I was born in Liverpool and the 60's was a very exciting time. The Mersey Beat Sound, The Beatles, The Cavern Club etc. Music was everywhere and it made you feel very proud to be a liverpudlian. I remember traveling to New York and because of my accent people asked if I knew the Beatles! I did meet them once and had all their autographs on the back of a beer mat, lost it though in the intervening years.
I moved to the Midlands with my parents and we settled in Wolverhampton. I trained as a chef and worked on the liners for Cunard shipping, then in various catering establishments before opening my own restaurant in Codsall, near Wolverhampton.
I joined a band called The Tremors and we played the Plaza group and all over the Midlands. We were often back up band to the stars of the Sixties. It was a fab time, screaming girls and packed venues. That's me in the silver suit.....very young eh!
I left the band when they went professional and made a record. I thought it was better to go to college and train to be a chef.
It was 20 Years before I did anything else in the music biz. I was too busy bringing up a family and paying a mortgage The bug hit me again when my wife dragged me to watch a country band she was raving about. I thought 'I could do that'.
The Rio Grande Band was a popular band on the country circuit
